Send private messages, and how message requests protect you from unwanted messages.

You can send private messages to other members from their profile or from Messages.
Messages and requests
- If the person follows you, your message goes straight to their inbox.
- If not, it arrives as a message request. They can accept it, after which you can talk normally, or decline it.
New accounts can start up to 3 new conversations a day for their first 3 days, or until their profile is complete.
Privacy
Only you and the other member can read your messages. Moderators see a message only if one of you reports it. Message notification emails never include the message text.
Block or report
If someone bothers you, open their profile and block them: they can no longer message you. To report a message that breaks the guidelines, use the report option on the message. See Report content.
