Privacy policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains how SEOgenz (“we”) handles personal data when you visit or use seogenz.com. We collect only what we need to run a professional network, and we do not sell personal data.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Profile and content: anything you choose to add, such as your professional title, bio, location, links, skills, images, business listings, articles, discussions, comments, tools and job postings.
- Activity: posts, likes, comments, poll votes, saved items, follows, reports you submit and notifications we send you, and when you were last active (for “Online now”).
- Private messages: the messages you send and receive, and whether a conversation is read. Only you and the other member can read them; our moderators see a message only if a participant reports it.
- Stories: photos and video links you share as stories. They are shown for 24 hours and then deleted, including the photo.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser details in server logs and in our security audit log, and session cookies while you are signed in.
- View counts: when you open a listing, article or discussion, or click a listing's website or email address, we store a one-way code made from your IP address, browser and the date, only so each visitor is counted once a day. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address, is deleted after two days, and only daily totals are kept.
- Purchases: what you bought, the amount and the payment status. Card and billing details are collected by our payment partner, not by us.
Why we use it
- To provide your account and show the content you publish (performing our contract with you).
- To keep the platform safe: moderation, spam and abuse prevention, rate limiting and security logs (our legitimate interest).
- To count how often listings, articles and discussions are viewed, so authors and listing owners can see their reach, and to see which pages visitors read (our legitimate interest).
- To send account emails such as email verification, password resets, moderation updates and (unless you turn them off) summaries of notifications you have not seen and a daily-at-most reminder about unread messages. We do not send marketing email.
- To process paid placements and keep financial records (contract and legal obligation).
What is public
Public profiles, published listings, articles, discussions, comments, tools and job postings can be seen by anyone and by search engines. Feed posts, reels and stories can be seen by anyone on SEOgenz, but are kept out of search engines. You can make your profile private in your settings. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Cookies
We use only cookies that are needed for the site to work: a session cookie, a security (CSRF) token and, if you choose “remember me”, a login cookie. Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set a cookie that protects the site from bots. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. To see how many people visit and which pages they read, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and does not follow you across other sites. We remember your light or dark theme choice in your browser (local storage).
Some posts, reels and stories link to videos on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram. Their players load only after you press play; at that point the provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. YouTube videos use its privacy-enhanced mode. For YouTube we show a preview image loaded from YouTube.
Who we share it with
- Hosting and network: our web host stores the site and its data; Cloudflare delivers and protects it, and measures visits (Web Analytics, without cookies).
- Payments: our payment partner processes purchases as merchant of record under its own privacy policy.
- Link previews: when you share a link, our server visits that page once to read its title and description. No personal data is sent.
- Legal reasons: when required by law or to protect members and the platform.
Some of these providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens they are required to protect it.
How long we keep it
- Account and content: while your account exists.
- Stories: 24 hours, then deleted.
- View-count codes: two days, then deleted (daily totals are kept).
- Server error logs: 14 days.
- Backups: rolling backups are kept for up to about four months, then deleted.
- Moderation history, the security audit log and purchase records: kept after account deletion where we need them for accountability, fraud prevention or legal obligations, with personal details removed where possible.
Your choices and rights
- Hide your online status, block members and decline message requests at any time.
- Edit or remove your profile and content at any time.
- Deactivate your account, or permanently delete it from your account settings. Deletion removes your personal details and profile, and takes your published content off the site.
- Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export or object to the processing of your data, and to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us to use these rights.
Children
SEOgenz is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell signed-in members about significant changes.
