"Is it nofollow?" matters less than most people think.

Since 2019 Google treats nofollow, ugc and sponsored as hints, and nobody outside Google knows exactly how they are weighed. What a nofollow link definitely does: send visitors, get you discovered and build your name.

Interaction to Next Paint (INP) replaced First Input Delay as a Core Web Vital in March 2024.

FID only measured the delay before the first interaction was handled. INP looks at responsiveness across the whole visit, which is why pages with heavy JavaScript that passed FID easily can struggle with it.

What fixed INP on the slowest site you have worked on?

hreflang only works in pairs.

If the English page points to the German one, the German page has to point back. Missing return links are one of the most common reasons hreflang is ignored, and they are easy to miss in templates that are maintained by different teams.

Who owns hreflang on the international sites you work on?

A canonical tag is a hint, not an instruction.

Search engines weigh it against everything else: internal links, redirects, sitemaps, which version gets linked externally. When those signals disagree, the canonical you set is not always the one they pick.

What is the strangest canonical choice you have seen Google make, and what caused it?
