Thin pages are not only short pages.

A long page that repeats what a hundred other pages already say can be thinner than a short page with information nobody else has. Word count is a symptom people measure because it is easy, not the thing that matters.

How do you explain this to clients who ask for "2,000-word articles"?

Before you change URLs, write down the redirect map first.

Every old URL that had traffic, links or rankings should point to its closest new equivalent with a single 301, not to the home page and not through a chain. Chains and blanket redirects to the home page throw away what the old URLs had earned.

What goes on your pre-migration checklist that people usually forget?

Guest posting is not the problem. Guest posting at scale, for links, with keyword-stuffed anchors is.

Search engines sometimes rewrite the title tag you wrote.

Common triggers are titles that are very long, stuffed with keywords, identical across many pages, or that do not match what the page is actually about.

When your titles were rewritten, what change got your own title shown again?

Server logs show what search engines actually crawl, not what a crawler tool thinks they could crawl.

On large sites the gap is often surprising: crawl budget spent on parameter URLs, old redirects, or sections nobody has looked at in years.

Have you looked at log files for a client this year? What did they show that nothing else did?
